ABOUT ABOUT

Improv Comedy: Two words that can mean so much more than you ever imagined. In this basic improv class, Stefan Gearhart of Damaged Goods Improv challenges you to open your mind and realize the endless possibilities improvisation has to offer.
In this workshop, he’ll teach you basic improv skills, such as how to incorporate a beginning, middle and end to your scene, how to create quick characters, and how to think quick and have fun!
He’ll also teach you some of the secrets behind Damaged Goods’ signature high energy style that has taken them around the country.

Stefan Gearhart has been officially performing improv for the better part of 16 years. He has a BFA in Theatre from Western KY University but it was there that he discovered improv by joining Kentucky’s Longest Running Improv Troupe, Happy Gas Improv. He later went on to learn and perform as much improv as humanly possible, even at one point breaking a world improv record, with improv troupe, SPF7 in Seaside, FL, as they performed 72 straight hours of improv comedy! IN 2010 Stefan and Parker Bowles created Damaged Goods Improv and has been having a blast ever since. Stefan has also been teaching improv for 10 years, teaching high energy/theatrical improv comedy as well as short form show hosting.

"I have never been so happily worn out!" - Paul Sutherlin

"I've never seen a short-form troupe play with more joy or energy than Damaged Goods. It's a whole 'nother level of short-form intensity. If this workshop can begin to even hint at what they achieve on stage, it's a can't miss." - PJ Jacokes of GO Comedy!

"Stefan really knows how to relate to you and push you past your fears and misconceptions." - Dr. Michael Pisanni

"Stefan made our workshop attendees feel like they were each getting a one on one coaching session even though it was a group workshop. His energy and character work left lasting impressions and his reviews were raving and asking for him to come back again next year. We'd highly recommend this experienced and personable instructor." ~Katie Fahey, Grand Rapids Improv Festival Director

"Stefan is a fun and engaging educator. My students are ready to fully jump into their improv unit because of his workshop!" ~Doug Sumey, Drama Teacher at Assumption High School

"Doing Improv overall has changed the way I live my life. Stefan is passionate about improv, and will make you a better improviser. Group mind, yes and . . . Take his class people!" ~Surriya Ahmad, Doctor and improviser

"I've been performing improv comedy now for nearly 5 years and I wouldn't be doing it if it weren't for my friend Stefan Gearhart, from whom I first learned the craft. He is going to be teaching an improv class, and I can tell you from firsthand experience that he knows his stuff. He is both a talented improvisor and a skilled teacher. If you've ever entertained the idea of learning improv, I encourage you to check out Stefan's class. Whether it's a desire to do comedy, improve your acting skills, learn to think on your feet, or just for fun, it's worth it." ~Tom Frisby, improviser with Improv Anonymous
